First day of school, our on the go mom shares her secrets

Millions of parents in the US sent their babies to school this morning, and I am now an official member of the weeping-moms-sending-their-kids-to-kindergarten-for-the-first-time club. That's right. It's hard to believe my first born baby strolled into school today with a backpack that weighed more than she did when she was born.

We prepped all summer for this day, and then there she went into school all by her little self! Her five years of life flashed before my eyes as the teacher lined the kids up and lead them through the school doors—the line where the kids entered and parents remained. All I could do is hope we prepped her enough to pay attention in class, play with ALL her new friends, not fight over the pink crayon, wash her hands after going potty and always say "please" and "thank you." While I was all tears, she was all smiles this morning.

I am now an official member of the weeping-moms-sending-their-kids-to-kindergarten-for-the-first-time club.

As I headed back to my car, another mom smiled and said "First time? Wait till your third child! You'll be scooting them out the door in celebration!" I was a little embarrassed that I was so obvious that she picked me out of the crowd, but it gave me a laugh and the boost of confidence I needed to get on with my day and know that she'll be just fine.
